[a PB-1000]

The Casio PB-1000 is more than 10 years old, but there seems to be no other computer that provides its features (editor, touch screen, calculator, interfaces, programming language) without having power supply problems, a higher price, or being much more noisy:

Thomás Wrobel's page

Thomás Wrobel <twrobel@TechFak.Uni-Bielefeld.de> maintains a text with a lot of information about the PB-1000, including the memory layout, the interface, and a full description of how to connect the PB-1000 to a PC:

Other Contributions

Thomas Wrobel has also taken some pictures. So far, they are available here as JPEGs of about 180-350K: display1, display2, display3, cpu, file1, file2.

Felipe Fernandez (felipekf@yahoo.com) has taken some pictures of a similar pocket computer, the Casio PB-2000. They are available here as JPEGs: the top (30kb JPEG) of a PB-2000, the bottom (31kb JPEG), and an opened (86kb JPEG) PB-2000.

Casimir Decas <decas@integra.fr> has a book about the PB-1000 and has contributed the table of contents. Matthias Gruhl (formerly matthias.gruhl@t-online.de) has typed in the the table of contents and the ROM and RAM addresses that can be found in this book:

G. Fink <g.fink@gmx.net> has reported that it is sufficient to have the FA7, a cable and a standard terminal program for data exchange with a PC, see his german text on data exchange.

BASIC Programs

Daniel Pratlong (pratlong@multimania.com) has contributed many programs:

Matthias Gruhl <Matthias.Gruhl@t-online.de> has written a game: Gernot Fink <Gernot.fink@munich.netsurf.de> has written a game: Andre Roessel <RCS-Technik@t-online.de> has written a morse simulator in 1989 and transferred it to a PC via the RS232 port:

I have written some PB-1000 BASIC programs between 1987-07-17 and 1991-06-06 on the PB-1000. I made a backup on a Commodore 128 floppy disk (typed each letter again...) and copied this file here on 1997-01-18. The only documentation are the (german) program names:

Mail archive

Another source of information is the mail archive with the mails I got form visitors of this page. Some extracts:

To Sell & Want to Buy

It seems not to be easy to find PB-1000 hardware. If you want to sell or buy something related to the PB-1000, you may contact one of the following users, or ask me so that I can add your request to the following list. Please don't forget to inform me if an entry is outdated.

I (Andreas Wichmann) will still read mail, but I have left university in May 2001 and will have hardly any time to maintain this page and to answer mails. Anyone who wants to help?
